The song in the Thread championship is something I heard from Band of Brothers. I looked in Google and I found the whole song. Please notation that some of the lyrics are sorta graphic.
He was just a rookie trooper and he surely shook with fright
He checked off his equipment and made sure his pack was tight;
He had to sit and listen to those awful engines roar,
"You own't gonna leap no more!"
Gory, gory, what a hell of a fashion to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a mode to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!
"Is everybody happy?" cried the Sergeant looking up,
Our Hero feebly answered "Yes," so they stood him up;
He jumped into the icy blast, his static line unhooked,
And he ain't gonna bound no more.
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dice,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a mode to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!
He counted long, he counted loud, he waited for the shock,
He felt the winds, he felt the clouds, he felt the awful drop,
He yanked the cord, the silk spilled out and wrapped around his legs,
And he ain't gonna spring no more than.
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dice,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a manner to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!
The risers wrapped around his cervix, connectors cracked his dome,
Suspension lines were tied in knots around his skinny bones;
The canopy became his shroud; he hurtled to the basis.
And he ain't gonna leap no more.
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dice,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a mode to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dice,
He own't gonna leap no more!
The days he'd lived and loved and laughed kept running through his mind,
He thought about the girl back home, the 1 he'd left behind;
He idea most the medics and he wondered what they'd find,
And he ain't gonna leap no more.
Gory, gory, what a hell of a style to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a style to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dice,
He ain't gonna jump no more!
The ambulance was on the spot, the jeeps were running wild,
The medics jumped and screamed with glee, rolled upward their sleeves and smiled,
For it had been a week or more since last a 'chute had failed,
And he own't gonna jump no more.
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dice,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a fashion to dice,
He own't gonna spring no more!
He hit the footing, the sound was "Splat!," his claret went spurting high,
His comrades then were heard to say: "A hell of a way to die!"
He lay in that location rolling round in the welter of his gore,
And he ain't gonna jump no more.
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dice,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna leap no more!
(slowly, solemnly)There was blood upon the risers, at that place were brains upon the chute,
Intestines were a'dangling from his Paratrooper suit,
He was a mess, they picked him upward, and poured him from his boots,
And he ain't gonna jump no more than
Gory, gory, what a hell of way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a style to dice,
He ain't gonna jump no more!
The chorus can as well be sung in this 'uncensored' version:Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die
With a burglarize upwardly your a** and a bullet in your middle
Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
When your assurance hang lower then your paratrooper boots
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die
With a rifle in your hand, and you're falling through the sky
Gory, gory, what a hell of a manner to dice
He ain't gonna jump no more!
The concluding chorus is (rarely) changed alternately to:(solemly sing)
They placed him in a coating, then they laid his soul to residue
They notified his side by side of kin; his funeral was the best
And on his monument of stone they scribed this little verse:
He ain't gonna jump no more
Gory, Gory, what a helluva mode to die
Gory, Gory, what a helluva way to die
Gory, Gory, what a helluva fashion to die
He own't, gonna jump, no more...
Or:Beautiful streamer please open for me
Blueish skies above me and no canopy
I counted x thousand, waited besides long
Reached for my ripcord and the handle was gone
Gory, Gory, what a helluva way to die
Gory, Gory, what a helluva way to die
Gory, Gory, what a helluva way to die
He own't, gonna leap, no more than...Is this an actual song they sung in WWII? Just curious. And while I'yard typing, How historically accurate is the show 'Band of Brothers'?
Thanks in advance,

Ah thanks, Slip. I've had that song in my head for a while now. I don't go why Paratroopers would sing near some other Paratrooper dying. It would scare the crap out of me.

Slipdigit gave you the correct name of the song "Blood upon the Risers". It'south a marching song and they still sang it when I went to jump school. Bobby/A-58 tin can tell if they did when he went.
The lyrics vary somewhat and the version I recall is closer to this one:Is everybody happy
Said the sergeant looking upward
Our hero feebly answered "Yeah"
So they hooked him upward,
He jumped into the slipstream,
And he twisted twenty times,
And he ain't going to jump no more than.Chorus:
Glory glory what a hell of a way to die,
Glory glory what a hell of a way to die,
And he own't going to jump no more.ii. He counted loud, he counted long
And waited for the daze
He felt the wind, he felt the air,
He felt that awful drop,
He pulled his lines, the silk came downward
And wrapped around his legs
And he ain't going to spring no more.
Chorus:3. The days he lived and loved and laughed
Kept running through his mind
He thought virtually the medics
And wondered what they would find,
He thought about the girl dorsum home,
The one he left behind.
And he ain't going to bound no more than.
Chorus:4. The lines all wrapped around his neck,
The D rings broke his dome,
His lift webs wrapped themselves
In knots around each skinny bone,
His canopy became his shroud
Equally he hurtled to the basis ,
And he ain't going to jump no more.
Chorus:5. The ambulance was on the spot,
The jeeps were running wild,
The medics, they clapped their hands
And rolled their sleeves and smiled,
For it had been a calendar week or more,
Since final a chute had failed,
And he own't going to jump no more.
Chorus:vi. He striking the ground, the sound was "splat",
The blood went spurting high,
His pals were heard to say
Oh what a lovely way to dice,
They rolled him up however in his chute,
And poured him from his boots,
And he ain't going to jump no more.
Chorus:vii. There was claret upon his risers,
At that place were brains upon his chute,
Blood that came a trickling
From his paratrooper boots,
And there he lay like jelly
In the welter of his gore,
And he ain't going to jump no more.
Chorus:I'chiliad not certain what the correct WWII version was.

Men are never nice to each other. Just another fashion of dealing with their fears.
-
I thnk it has more to do with 'Dirt Darts' not being overly brilliant
-
About like "Jarheads" not knowing how to spell....
I went to jump school in March of 1978, and it was heard frequently and so. Later on on in my showtime consignment in Alaska, almost the just time we heard it or sung it was when were were ripped to sh1t drunk at the NCO club waiting for the MPs to bring together the political party.
And if but hearing that song would scare the crap out of you Radar4077, I tin just imagine what would happen if you stood in the door and hesitated in the front of a stick of screaming paratroopers bent on united nations-a$$ing the aircraft. Sick humor is a given in organizations like that. I'1000 certain the Marine Corps has their fair share of it too. I know nosotros do here with the state law.
-
I guess I just lost my spot on Bobby's All-American Spelling Bee; too, you don't got to spell good to shoot i of them fancy burglarize guns.
-
Or stick'em with a bayonet. A bullet launcher is fine iff'due north you gots plenty of bullets handy.
-
And the Marine Corps scores some other signal, they still issue bayonets and railroad train you to use them. In the Regular army they have become passe'.
Formerjughead, I am highly offended past the "dirt dart" comment, but it was pretty darn funny. -
He's just jealous, that's all.

Sick humour has been a constant anywhere I have always worked with a group of men.

The vocal I e'er become stuck in my head is that one Due east company sings when running up Currahee.
Hidy-tidy, Christ Almighty, who the --ll are we, Jim man, G-- D---, we're airborne infantry".
Information technology has another lines that not for mixed company every bit well.
-
There is actually a full version of that vocal/ chant in "Battle Cry" by Leon Uris

For the nigh role, there was an effort to be accurate, but there were some errors.
A good portion of Ambrose'south book that the series was developed from was pulled from an autobiography called Parachute Infantry, by Daniel Kenyon Webster. If you are familiar with the serial, he was the trooper wounded in the butt during Market place Garden and then rejoined the segmentation later on Foy, outside Bastogne. In the series, he was shown to accept been shunned by other soldiers for missing the Bulge, but that was non factual, according to his volume.
In that location was another error most a soldier named Albert Blithe. The serial says he died sometime after the war from his injuries or something like that. He really lived well into the 1970s and continued to serve in the ground forces until retirement.
In that location are a few other errors, simply I cannot recall them now.

It's a pretty accurate story. Some of the actual people and events were monkied around with to brand for good Idiot box; but, all in all it'south pretty close. The book is more accurate as far as charecters and events. At that place is really a companion video to the movie: "We Stand Alone Together" and it's several interviews with the men from the movie.
